Umbrella Project for Natural Resource Management (UPNRM) for Jalna District
NABARD funded UPNRM project for two clusters in Jalna district i.e. i) Jafrabad and ii) Bhokardan. Dilasa implemented three watersheds in Jafrabad block, which is the most backward block of the region. These projects are Nandkheda, Warkheda and Khanapur. Nandkheda watershed covers Nandkheda, Kachnera, Kinhi, Waghrul, Dongaon, Butkheda villages. Warkheda watershed covers Warkheda, Dolkheda villages while Khanapur watershed covers Khanapur, Kalegavan and Savargaon villages. All these villages are near Tembhurni, which is on Aurangabad-Buldana road. The second cluster is centered at Latifpur watershed, which is in Bhokardan block and covers Latifpur, Khadgaon, Phulenagar and Khadki villages.
Dilasa implemented the watershed programme in the prescribed area and now Udayan is interested in implementation of UPNRM. Udayan implemented watershed programme with grant mode and our objective is to shift the watershed community from ‘grant mode to loan mode’. Dilasa is associated with all the watershed development activities coupled with grant component. Now with the advent of its sister-concern, Udayan we propose to emphasize on the minds of people those Udayan activities hereafter will be coupled with loans and not grants. With this main intention and its previous experience Udayan is entering in the same area with a view to inculcate loan oriented approach, which is no doubt complementary to the watershed activities undertaken by Dilasa. It is pertinent to note that the techno-financial model remained successful in the UPNRM project of Dilasa as a sustainable post watershed development activity.
